Cotton Bag Co. is one of the leading suppliers of reusable bags in the country, so you should already know that each and every staff member is dedicated to reducing waste and lowering emissions. That’s the whole reason the company was started, but how does our infrastructure measure up?

Shipping Instead of Air-Freight

We source so many of our products from factories located overseas that we needed to make sure transportation was as environmentally-friendly as possible. Shipping our products by air would get them to us a little bit quicker, but who doesn’t mind waiting an extra day or two when it has such a huge benefit for the planet.

And when we say huge, we mean huge! Ocean freight is far more environmentally-friendly than using planes. In fact, using the former creates only 10-40g of CO2 emissions for every metric ton of cargo, whereas the latter creates 500g based on the same weight. Using planes would be like ordering the same bag up to 50 more times, so avoiding them wherever possible was an eco-friendly no-brainer.

As for our UK-based premises, they’re just as environmentally-friendly as you’d expect from a company which is so committed to helping the planet. We use green energy in our offices to make sure that we supply our eco-friendly bags from a location which isn’t part of the problem.

Green energy is guaranteed to provide power from only sustainable generation methods, such as wind turbines and solar panels. It costs us a little more each month, but we’re more than happy to pay it. After all, we wouldn’t want the planet to pay the price instead.

Electric Equipment Turned off Overnight

One of the easiest and most commonly cited ways of reducing your power consumption is simply turning off any electrical equipment overnight. You’ve probably been told numerous times to switch off your lights when you leave a room, but you’d be amazed how many companies fail to follow those kind of rules.

At Cotton Bag Co., we always ensure that our equipment is turned off whenever possible, ensuring that we only use what we need, when we need it.
