Continuing our quest to find 131 uses for a cotton bag, we’re now into Autumn so let’s take a look as some seasonal ways to put a cotton bag to work:

Halloween

It’s easy to incorporate a paper bag into a Halloween costume, but less so a cotton bag. What they are really good for though is carrying kids goodies home with them after an evening of trick-or-treating. Sturdy, and weather resistant, there’s little danger of bags ripping or getting wet leading to tears before bedtime. A large cotton bag is also a good way to transport carved pumpkin heads from place to place.

Sticks

Now is the time of year you’re going to see a lot of small sticks and twigs falling for the trees, and when an open fire on a cold evening or weekend seems like the best idea in the world. Cotton bags because of their size, strength and washability are the perfect vessel for going round collecting kindling, so when you’re out walking the dog always carry one or two with you.

Keeping the car clean

Speaking of walking the dog, with the weather taking a turn now you can expect muddy shoes, so carrying a few cotton bags in the car at all times means you don’t need to get mud all over the interior. If the bags get too dirty you can just give them a rinse out with the hose pipe.

Kids crafts

On a rainy weekend, why not get hold of some plain cotton bags and some craft paints, and let your kids’ imaginations run wild as they create their own designs? Just hang them out to dry afterwards and see how much fun they get from taking their personalised bags around with them in future. Who knows, it might even inspire them to help out with the weekly shop or use them to keep their rooms tidy!
